Cortado, Caffè Breve,Dalgona...hippe koffievarianten? En welke zijn er nog meer?
Do you sometimes get lost in all the different coffee varieties available? We've listed them for you:

Espresso-based drinks
  • Espresso: A concentrated shot (25-30 ml) brewed under high pressure, characterized by a layer of crema.
  • Ristretto: A "restricted" espresso with the same amount of coffee but half the water, resulting in a more intense flavor.
  • Lungo: An espresso where two to three times as much water is forced through the ground coffee.
  • Americano: A shot of espresso diluted with hot water (usually 1 part espresso to 2 parts water).
  • Long Black: Similar to an Americano, but the espresso is poured over the water to preserve the crema.
Milk varieties
  • Caffè Latte: One part espresso with three parts steamed milk and a small layer of milk foam.
  • Cappuccino: Traditionally consisting of equal parts (1:1:1) espresso, steamed milk, and milk foam.
  • Flat White: A double shot of espresso (often ristretto) with finely textured microfoam, but less foam than a latte.
  • Cortado: Espresso "cut" with an equal amount of warm milk to temper the bitterness.
  • Macchiato: An espresso "stained" with just a small spoonful of milk foam.
  • Caffè Breve: A variant where the milk is replaced by half-and-half (cream and milk).
  • Mocha: A combination of espresso, chocolate syrup or powder and steamed milk.
Other and regional types
  • Filter coffee (Drip): Coffee where hot water passes through a filter with medium-ground beans.
  • Cold Brew: Coffee steeped in cold water for 12 to 24 hours, resulting in lower acidity.
  • Turkish Coffee: Very finely ground coffee cooked with water and often sugar in a cezve, with the grounds remaining in the cup.
  • Affogato: A scoop of vanilla ice cream "drowned" in a shot of hot espresso.
  • Café au Lait: Equal parts filter coffee and warm milk.
  • Red Eye: Drip coffee fortified with a shot of espresso (also called Depth Charge).
  • Vietnamese Coffee: Very strong coffee combined with sweetened condensed milk.
  • Irish Coffee: Hot coffee, Irish whiskey, and sugar, topped with a layer of unwhipped cream.
  • Butter Coffee (Power Coffee): Coffee blended with butter and MCT oil for sustained energy.
  • Dalgona: A South Korean trend of whipped instant coffee with sugar and water, served on milk.
